Don't worry ... you're right, you don't know anything ... no one expects you to. Every program starts out there ca-1's differently, but most likely you will spend a little time in the OR (doing fun stuff like putting in IV's, intubating, extubating) and a lot of time in lectures, with crash introductions to the meds you'll be using. Most programs don't let you alone in the OR for a little while - like 4-6 weeks (literally, the attending can't even leave the room to go to the bathroom without another attending coming in to cover you). And even when the attendings do leave initially they stay very close to the room, and only leave during the very stable parts. don't worry about missing iv's or not being able to intubate right away - everyone eventually learns how, and everyone (including attendings) have a bad day where they can't put in an iv even on easy pts. you probably won't even take overnight call to start, jus stay late during your calls, so that you get an idea of what call is like, and they'll send you to pre-op pts. You'll do fine!
