My dilemma:

Complete required pre-reqs at a local CC (2 years) then apply to pharmacy school, hoping it doesn't turn into a 7 year program.

-or-

Apply for a 0-6 school and have security knowing I'm locked in that degree.

I live on long island and would like to stay here, commute and keep my current pharmacy retail job. My choices for a 0-6 school is LIU or St.Johns.

My other option is Touro where I can complete their pre-reqs in 1 year and then apply for their PharmD program. I started our late in life with this choice, but now it's final on what I want to do.

Age: 25
BS in Criminal justice. (2.9cGPA, 3.5GPA over last 2 years)
10 years retail pharmacy experience. (2 years in an independent pharmacy until they were bought out, then 8 years in retail pharmacy)

Nicker, you may want to check with the 0-6 schools to find out if they'll take you, since you have a degree. Some of your degree classes should count towards your pharm prereqs (english comp for one). I have never personally checked into the 0-6s, but that would be my first phone call, to make sure it's an option.

Honestly, were I in your shoes (& motivated to get through), I'd just do the 1 year prereqs then go for the 4 year rather than going through the 0-6. Then again, I took all my prereqs at CC and am going to matriculate to a 3 year, so my situation does not at all mirror yours.

Anyone have more applicable knowledge?
