starting IM Rotation soon

Hey guys. I'm just starting rotations on 2/11 in the cleveland clinic in florida for IM. Will be my first rotation in all. I've heard some horror stories about it from people saying that it's best taken later on in the third year but I have no control over the scheduling. I've already asked for something like surgery/ob/psych to be first for me but they said whatever schedule I have now is final. So my question is what advice people have to get an honors in IM even though it'll be my first rotation because I really need to do well my third year from how to go about the daily things to doing well on shelf exams (what materials to study form etc.). Thanks in advance.

I actually think IM is the best place to start rotations. Here are some resources to get you started:
