Hello Everyone
Found lot of useful information onthis site. I am new to this site and this is my first thread. To start with, I did all of my prerequisites in an international university about 15 years back and went to grad school in US to complete MS in Biotechnology. I do have 5 years of clinical research experience and name on atleast 3 research papers. Where do I start? Is it enough if I just do prereqs again. Any suggessions welcome
Pease help
thanks to all

You'll want to get either some volunteer experience or some shadowing in, and of course, take the MCAT.

Retaking the prereq courses is the safest path, but depending on your grades and how confident you are in what you remember, you might try to get your international transcript evaluated up-front (you probably will have to, regardless, when you actually apply) and see what schools will accept the old prereqs.

If your grades and prereqs translate well, it might be better to some upper division courses to provide a "current" GPA than to retake classes.

Thanks stbxTechie,
I have already got my transcript evaluated. My UG GPA OF 3.4 and grad GPA 3.9. From other threads and your reply I get an idea that this UG GPA might be a problem. I better take at least physics and chem courses to refresh my memory for MCAT and boost my GPA.
BTW I was wondering how to ask a physician for shadowing.
Thanks for your help

For you GPA and prereqs call the schools you plan on applying to and see what their policies are. Talk to an admissions counselor about your situation. They can tell you about what you do or don't need.

Also, as for the physician shadowing there are a couple of ways to go about this. One is ask your own doctor, sometimes they are more than willing to help you out, especially if they know you're interested in becoming a physician. Also, this may help you out in the long run because you already have a relationship with your doctor therefore, they may have more positive things to say about you in a LOR. Another course of action is asking your friends and family members if they know of anyone. Also, just calling up a doctor in your area may provide you with some options.

I hope all goes well with you in the future. Good luck!
