Hi everyone (my first post)... I have a question about intern hours: Which states don't require extra intern hours outside of the ones you do on rotation? I know most states have some sort of requirement of "independent" hours, but I know some like Illinois don't require any. I was thinking that this might broaden my option for states I can apply for residency in?? Thanks 🙂

Illinois doesn't require any intern hours.
Wisconsin's intern hour requirement you can meet as long as you graduate.

Delaware, as long as you get 1500 hours from rotations.

wow, thanks!! I'd love to know anywhere else too...

I think the whole intern hour requirement for certain states is pointless and a waste of my time. I see no educational advantage in "filling prescriptions" for 500-1000 hours and at the same time being very poorly paid for it!

I go to Creighton. I get 1600 rotation hours.

Other universities within states may be different though.

I've learned so much more at work than I did at school. I think if you went into it with that attitude it might be a waste, but I've really enjoyed interning at a hospital.

And $15.20/hr isn't all that poorly paid. It's by far the most money I've ever made per hour.

Potd!

Well like I said, I see no benefit for myself. However I can see how other people can benefit and think it's great they have the opportunity.... my professional interests are outside the "filling prescriptions" business so I don't really have time for it.

I've heard New Jersey doesn't require intern hours, true? thanks 🙂

You don't have to work in retail for your Intern hours. Be creative.
