Does anyone know where I can get statistics/info on MD residencies programs which are more or less DO friendly. I know for example that Univ of Utah does not take DO's. I am trying for Radiology, and I do not want to waste my time on programs that will not take DO's no matter what. I am from Oregon and I go to school in Arizona. I would like to stay in the west, and I know California is a problem regardless. That leaves my options pretty limited. Can anyone help?

Best thing you can do is go to the individual residencies websites, and check if there are any DOs in the program. That's what I did when I applied for residency.

As above, I checked the web sites for current DO residents, graduates, or faculty members. Also word of mouth.

You can even call/email the program that you are interested in. UCSD EM program director told me that they had never ranked a DO, while other programs said "we love DOs, we have one as Chief right now."

These informal "statistics" may be the best out there right now.

why are california programs hard for D.O. to match? or is that just for those who are not california residents?

Just be yourself, rumors are rumors and you do not know how or why people get ranked or not...Apply and let them decide...you spent a chunk of change on med education, what difference does the extra bucks cost to apply...and you will find out on whether you get an interview or not...Chances are if they bothered to interview you...You have a good a chance as anybody
