Will taking stats 2 and 3 help me stand out amongst other clinical psychology applicants?? Did you guys take it? I'm trying to decide whether or not to take it in the fall. I'm already signed up for Research Methods in Psych, Intro to Women's Studies, Physiological Psych, and a TA internship. If I decide to take Stats 2 I would be at the max 17 credit hours. What do you guys suggest?

Thanks

prob not.....but i will be good for you personally. It could make research in grad school make alot more sense if you are not struggling to learn the concepts that are brand new to others.

If you're already taking Research Methods next semester, I wouldn't take it, unless you think you can handle a large courseload. I would think that would be stats-overkill. Taking it in the spring semester might be better; it'll help refresh all the stats you learned in research methods.

You sound pretty busy with your classes etc. If you want to stand out, focus on excelling GPA-wise in what you're already enrolled to take. Multiple stats classes aren't going to make you stand out. Like erg923 said, you'll certainly benefit knowledge-wise, however. Spend your time doing the types of things that are most important in terms of what schools look at most intently, eg, your GPA, research experience, and LOR, among others, because that's what will make you stand out among other applicants.

Generally I wouldn't recommend taking a research and a stats course in the same semester, both tend to be more work than just 1 class.

I would go ahead and do it. It will be great experience. I took both, stats and research methods in the same semester back as a sophomore, and they seemed to compliment each other. On another note, if you think you can't handle 17 credits, then don't do it. This past semester, I took 18 credits and it turned out to be much easier than I had anticipated.

Good luck!
