my stats are 24Q Mcat: 3.25 overall nyu - 3.1 science...lots of extracurricular and hospital-related work experience + research...DO shadowing...good DO reccomendations...which DO schools should I target for?

All of the private schools. Apply early, since your stats are not stellar this should give you a chance to get a few interviews. Make sure that your personal statement stands out above the rest. Get help with this if possible.

Think about taking the MCAT again. You have a shot at some DO schools with your stats, but your MCAT will be the weakest point of your app. Your GPA is a little low, but coming from NYU it will be weighted accordingly. A 3.25 for all intents and purposes will be viewed more as a 3.4 or higher coming from NYU. Definitely apply to NYCOM and the other east coast private DO schools. The addcomms at those schools will be the most famliar with the quality of the premed curriculum at NYU.

Apply early--I'd apply to UHS in Kansas City; they have a huge class and seem to accept just about everyone.

Three things you must do:

apply early

You have a shot with those stats but the longer you wait, the more the odds go against you. It's a lot easier to get accepted to a school when you interview with only a quarter of the class full as opposed to having only 5 seats left open.

I strongly suggest you apply to NYCOM
