While looking over the prometric sites for taking Step1 I noticed that there was an option of taking the exam at 1:00pm as opposed to the 9:00am as the other standard. I'm not much of a morning person and was initially gearing to get my body accustomed to this type of schedule but now that I found out there was a possibility of an afternoon exam, it's got me thinking about it. Even though I may not get out until 9-10ish, at least I know I am on my peak rather than trying to slowly get my mind going in the morning.

has anyone heard of or experienced an afternoon start time for Step 1 and if so, how did it work out? thanks in advance

That would be kinda weird to be taking the test that late...I'd rather get it over with

I'd be tempted to take it if I had that option, since I usually function better later in the day too. But, then again, I doubt that I'll be able to get much sleep the night before due to nerves, so it might actually be better to just go int he morning and be done with it.
Well, good luck to you whatever you decide!

I signed up to take the exam in the afternoon, but then, like most people, I saw myself fading and wanting to take a nap around 1:30, 2 PM... I didn't want to take the chance of that happening during the exam. I changed mine to 8:30.

Maybe you should try taking a 50 question block at 9 and then another at 2 just to see if there is a difference...
