STEP 1 and applying for Disability.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did you have accommodations for the MCAT? If not, you are going to have a very hard time obtaining accommodated conditions (esp extra time). I helped someone very close to me try and obtain accommodations for the MCAT. She had well documented notes saying she had a disability (… going back to the second grade) and a dx from high school. After spending many hours preparing documentation (that should have been spent studying), she was denied all accommodations except for taking the test in a distraction free room. She ultimately declined reasoning that the benefit from the accommodation was less than the negative consequence of having an * next to her score (that says so and so took the test in non-standard conditions). Long story short, she had wished she spent the time studying the MCAT instead of the preparing the documentation (which also cost > $1000).

I am applying for a disability acc. for STEP 1. Wondering if anyone could provide me with any experiences they had or advice? From their guidelines they want teachers notes from elementary school and onward. I was not tested and diagnosed till after high school so I am a bit of a loss as to what to do. I've tried to locate old documents but my schools have shredded all reports. Feel free to post or PM me. Thanks.

If you don't already know how the process works (college, MCAT, medical school thus far, etc), then it's unlikely you have anything legitimate enough to qualify.
