Would anyone care to comment on the difficulty of matching into GS with a Step 1 score of 229 for an AMG? I hope to hear from those who possibly just took part in the match or those who have a more intimate understanding, such as those who work with the match at their institution. I understand there are several other factors at play, I just thought I might try and get a better sense of how my Step 1 score may affect me...

You are asking how an average step 1 score will affect your ability to match? It isn't going to help you at top programs, it isn't going to hurt you at less competitive programs. What else can anyone tell you?

Translation: As long as you're not a d-bag (in the interview) you will match. Maybe not at MGH, but you will definitely match.

I'm sure what you want is somewhere in here. But I'd agree with the others. Average score means some small shot at best programs but more likely an average match. Nothing wrong with that

Average applicants with average scores generally get spots at average programs. Occasionally, that isn't true and the average applicant matches at a low tier program and even more occasionally, they find a position at a top program.
