When someone says to study for Step 1 using First Aid, does that mean all the First Aid books (the outline of the subjects, Q&A database, and case studies) or just the First Aid book that is an outline of the subjects?

Thanks.

Most of the time people mean the general First Aid for the USMLE Step 1 book, not the whole series.

Those new books (basic sciences, cases, Q&A, etc) are relatively new and have yet to really prove themselves. The outline one is the tried-and-true "Bible" for the USMLE that you've been hearing about.

Agreed with zoom- the outline FA provides you the skeleton from which to build your boards knowledge.

use first aid for usmle step 1 as your bible. if you need to, go to short review books for reference. i used brs path and physio to clarify some things here and there (i DEFINITELY didnt read either one in full). i wrote stuff into first aid, highlighted first aid, etc etc. then went through first aid (and only first aid) a second time the 8-9 days before my exam.

Does it matter which version of FA you use? I saw a 2009 version in the bookstore, but I'm just starting M2... should I be waiting for a 2010 version (because I'll be taking it in 2010)? If so, when do they release it?

Just curious, I've heard it's good to annotate it while you're studying 2nd year material...

I'm annotating 2008 FA then plan on getting 2010 FA and reannotate as a way of going through FA again while doing World and reviewing BRS books. Taking boards in March.

It's exactly the same stuff in both of them (08/09). Believe me, I checked!
