hi,
i just took the step 1 (which i probably failed) and after i got home i realized that they kept that orange paper. were they suppose to keep it? it also has my ID number on it that we put in after each break. now i no longer know what my ID number is.
will i need it? were they suppose to keep it?

i heard that there is a way to check if you passed by trying to register for it again. does anyone else know anything about this. will i need that number to register with?

if anyone knows anything about either PLEASE let me know.

thanks

I took the exam yesterday and they took our orange slips at the end. I asked about it, and she said they were required to do so.

Ah, the OASIS trick...

Were they really supposed to keep it? They definitely didn't take mine. 😕

They DEFINITELY keep it!!!!!
What?? Not only did the proctor not take mine, he actually gave it back to me when I gave it to him! Should I call them and find out if I should give it back? Or just let it go?

Only a guy with a name "like chaos" or in compressed turmoil would cause ambiguity with the orange slip. [Every minute counts] By the way they definitely took my orange slip.
😕 Soooo.... what does that even mean??

I think I may have to call up Prometric and see what they say. Thanks for the "help." 🙄

Oh, I was wondering if there was a non-FMG Oasis-like trick for US med students?

No there's not...don't try re-registering for the exam. It will let you, you will think you failed and you will freak out. It's not worth the stress for the days that you think you might have failed.

i called up the prometrics people and they said that they are supposed to keep the orange slip. they are supposed to keep both parts of it. he told me thats what they were told by the usmle people. he told me that they keep it and at the end of the day they put it thru the shredder.

so is the way of checking you passed only for FMG???

Yeah - they keep the orange form. As for your USMLE ID# - I would find this out - it will probably be on other correspondence you have from them, whether it is email confirmation or whatever. You could just wait until you get your score report back because it will be on there as well. But this is a good number to have handy, because every single freaking time you have to take another test or apply for residency or whatever, you have to put in your USMLE ID#. It drove me up a wall because I had always put it in a "safe place" yet the safe place was somewhere separate from where I was or I couldn't find it. Do yourself a favor - send yourself an email with your USMLE ID# and keep it filed. 🙂
