Hey everyone,

I'll be starting med school in August, and one of the useful tips I've heard for preparing for the USMLE is to find a good USMLE review book early in first year and to review it as I study for classes. Are there any books in particular that you guys would recommend? Thanks.

At most, I would say read through RR Pathology and listen to Goljan as you go through the systems throughout your first 2 years. After reading suggestions on this forum, I tried annotating FA while in school and it did not work. You end up annotating stuff that you don't need to learn for boards, and you don't gain anything for your exams. Kinda a waste of time I felt.

Best advice though, forget about boards until you're well past anatomy. Anatomy is low yield on boards, but it can really send you along the right/wrong path in terms of study habits and grades.

RR path is a safe suggestion. Honestly though, who has time or ambition to study something in med school other than what you're currently being tested on? I know you're fired up to be in medical school, but just focus on what is presented to you lecture. That's the best board prep you have right now
