Getting a score of 229/91 on Step 1, what programs is one most likely NOT able to get a residency in?

I'm a Caribbean medical student also, (even though we take the same USMLE as US students).

I've heard of Carib students matching in every residency with high board scores, just wondering if I'm limited and have to step it up a notch for Step 2?

Thanks for any input.

Depends on which school you attend (SGU has the best rep in US) and how you've performed in your clinical rotations and a lot on which hospitals you rotate through and the recommendations from attendings/residents. A 229 is a good score but as a foreign graduate I think it will probably keep you out of very competitive US residencies like ortho, derm, rad, uro, ent, ophtho to name a few. If you choose to go into semi-competitive fields like Anes, gen surg, path then you might have to juggle w/ hospitals and location. And if you decide to go into primary care fields like peds, IM, family then I think your options should be wide open as far as where and which hospital you'd wanna go.
