It's been long, painful weeks but finally coming to an end tomorrow. I'm going to lightly review some biochem stuffs and call it a day. Also, plan on going out to my favorite steak house with my family tonight. Still debating whether I should get adult size diaper or not. Any last minute tips?

Other than that, thanks for SDNers who have given me advice since premed days. And best of luck everyone who's taking the exam tomorrow.

It's funny you mentioned the diaper, because I came in to recommend that if you're lactose intolerant like me, to stay away from all dairy for the 24 hours before the exam. I tried to do this for the most part, but got food that had cheese on the way there, thinking it wouldn't be that big of a deal... Gas was hitting me by block 5. Luckily I had an evening start time so there weren't many people there, and by the end of block 6 I was the only person so I was just letting them rip.

So it was you who was gassing up the whole room.....Now I know.........I was there.............

Be sure to reorient and recenter yourself after every block. There's nothing worse than going into a fresh block still bummed out and stressing over the last block. Take a 1min breather at your seat and just empty your mind.

Wait so how does this evening start thing work? I'm not normally a morning person so getting up for step was pretty agonizing but if I had known I had the option of starting later in the day I would've definitely taken it.

Just like the morning... but it starts later. I knew that my sleeping habits haven't been good since I started medical school. I can't remember the last time I slept 8 hours straight without getting woken up by something or having to wake up for something. I also can't remember the last time I could regularly fall asleep any time before 12 with it feeling natural since maybe high school. Wasn't going to risk being groggy on arguably the most important day of my life.

Go with your gut. You'll get questions wrong if you over-think. But you'll still over-think on a few regardless as to what you do.

A good tactic is to read a question and if an answer pops into your head, instantly click it. ONLY change the answer if you are 100% sure a different one is correct. Even if you are ~80% sure a different one is correct, don't change your answer. You need to let your subconscious carry you through some of the test.

Go with your gut. Don't over-think things. Good luck,

Phloston, it would be awesome if you can post about test taking strategies especially for 8 hour exam.

Good luck LUCPM!!

Best of luck tomorrow LUCMP

Hopefully I'm not posting this in the wrong place but I was wondering would you guys be able to give me some advice. Sitting my exam next Monday, my target is to get 230. I got 228 on NBME 13 last Friday, 222 on NBME 15 the week before that and 217 on NBME 7 4 weeks ago. Should I do another NBME and try and get above 230 before next Monday or just concentrate on cramming.

Just got done with my exam today. I feel defeated to say the least.

I think I finished 5 or 6 blocks with zero minute to spare. I felt like each question stem was much longer and more convoluted.

Not to scare anyone, but watch your time closely. As some of the above posters mentioned, do not dwell on a question too long and just move on.

Also, try to take a break before the last couple of blocks if you can. I zoned out several times towards the end.

Thanks everyone!

This made my day. That just shows you how ****** up my life is.

And I did not anticipate that type of scenario until now. When I'm taking the exam I am not gonna be courteous to others and if I have to let one rip.. I will... lol.

Took my test recently. I felt like half the test was from first aid/uworld, and the other half you just cant prep for. Shout out to picmonic for helping me get maybe 3-4 questions right alone. Working on speed is important, if I was lucky I had at least 4-5 minutes left to check my marked questions. If I wasn't so lucky I had 2 minutes to check my marked questions.

There are questions that you know the material, but a descent amount of questions are written more vaguely and longer than uworld, and the answer choices are just as vague. I remember one question where I read the question stem, an answer popped into my mind, but looking at the answer choices, none of the answers matched what what was in my head. Most questions though I feel you can do, but the time limit hanging over head makes those questions much harder, and I ended up taking a guess and moving on, hoping to come back to it later if time permits.

Some questions had a right answer that made no sense at all, but you know it is correct because the other answers were without a doubt wrong.

I am pretty sure I made the mistake of changing a right answer to a wrong answer as well...luckily I think I did this just once. Most of the time I always went with the more "obvious" answer to stop myself from over-thinking.

LUCPM I really hope both you and I come out strong on this test!
