I didn't take my step two until early april this year (my 4th year) - it never came up in the interviews. I don't really think the programs care.
The only time it has come up is returning a notorized copy of a passing score with my residency contract.
My personal feelings towards the ENT match are that if you are a good candidate, you will match. That being said, to match at the "top places" (JHU, Michigan, Iowa, Seattle, etc), in my opinion, seem to favor those who have done away rotations at one of these places and yield a strong letter of support.
Regardless, you really can't go wrong with nearly any ENT residency. I was impressed with all interviews I went on and would have been happy to train at any place. Each has their own pros and cons. Training is excellent at the vast majority.
The difficult part is tempering perceived career goals at this stage of your training with life itself. For example, training at Iowa no doubt is a career push (I think they have the greatest number of residency graduates as chairmans and program directors) But even at Iowa something like 2/3s of graduates eventually enter private practice - And although I thoroughly enjoyed the interview at Iowa (the facilities are easily the best out there), I'm not sure if I would have liked living in a place of 70k people in the middle of nowhere for at least 5 years. If you have a partner/spouse their needs also come into play, too.
Also, I've also noticed that no matter where you train (for the most part) one can choose to enter academics in ENT - perhaps because it is such a small field.
Make sure you apply AND interview broadly.
Best regards....
PS - sorry to get a bit off the topic, but was just typing as I was thinking!
