How important are step II scores for obtaining fellowships?

What would be the most important factors?

By the time you apply for fellowships, Step 2 is a distant memory. What's important is that you pass it, I don't think they even ask to look at your scores.

True story: MS1 is shadowing or some such thing on the wards, and volunteers to start an IV.

Resident asks, "Have you done this before?"

"No, but I took AP bio in high school."
