Have to start studying for the CK... I have Step-up, Crush, First Aid, and Secrets (hell, I've got a lot of books, including NMS books for every subject).

I decided to start with a subject I actually like (Psychiatry) and build from there. So far I'm not impressed with Crush or Step-up. I was thinking I'd use First Aid and maybe consult the NMS books if needed (I know there's little time to read through them). Then a friend of mine who's a fellow suggested knowing Step 2 Secrets cover to cover; until she mentioned it, I'd forgotten about the book, but suddenly remembered seeing some friends of mine a couple years ago (who went to a very good med school) using it as a primary source to study for the exam.

Any thoughts on these two books?

I also have a UWorld subscription I'll start using today, but my friend the fellow suggests the Kaplan Qbank, which I'm wary of because I felt it lead me astray for Step 1.

i dont think you can go wrong with Uworld. i just took CK a week ago so i dont have my score yet, but a lot of the exam was very familiar as a result of doing world questions.

i felt first aid went into a lot of detail while crush and secrets were a more brief review. most of the time when i'd look up an answer i got wrong on world in first aid, it would be in the first aid book because it really covered a lot of the fine details.
