Step 2 CK in October?

Do you think this is an ok time to take CK? I've looked through so many residency program websites and so far I've only seen that UCSF and Dartmouth require Step 2 CK to even apply but the rest don't mention when to take it. Obviously it needs to be done before end of 4th year but is step 2 required for ranking? interviews? I'm a bit confused. I did well on step 1 so I was hoping to have more time to study so that I can do equally well on CK.

October is perfectly fine for Step 2.
