thanks God!
i just wanted to balance things out here on good old sdn..
i feel very bad for the poster that started the thread with the cs fail...it is so frustrating, especially on such a subjective test. please dont worry though, as it is a temporary hurdle.
i came up short on my first attempt on step one, i am clinically strong but honestly the basic sciences are a weakness for me..
so when i saw the high scores posted by some that failed cs, i was very anxious..
i got the good news in the mail today, and i am so thankful.
i had the exam in atlanta, the sp's i thought were very good. like everyone else, i completely missed some obvious things.
i think the sp's have alot of pull, so my take on it was be very humble and empathetic, which is the same way i try to treat all patients. plenty of sirs and maams, and just dive in and "play doctor". i think its much more important how you treat them as people versus remembering every little detail and getting yourself flustered.
also i feel like i missed some diagnosis completely, but i filled the page each time with handwritten notes.
so if you havent taken it yet, here is my advice:
go through first aid,
relax, get some rest the night before.
be polite and caring to the sp's. dont forget the easy points (draping, wash hands, address by name).
and dont worry!
best to all. 🙂
