Step 2 required?

I guess it's a little late to be worried about this but I'm dying to know.

Has anyone been invited to UCI or UCLA without a step 2 score? I haven't taken mine yet and just read on UCI's website that they require step 2. Or maybe if you don't have step 2 you have to be exceptional??? Please respond...I'm totally bummed and kicking myself!🙁

I didn't apply to those programs, but I did write to one program who I hadn't heard from and they told me they wouldn't interview me without step 2. Definitly frustrating and something I wasn't warned about by my school. I would suggest writing or calling the programs. I know a lot of programs require step II and won't rank you without it, but I think most places will interview you without it as long as you did well on step 1.
If they weren't going to interview you, at least you would know and wouldn't be left wondering. Then you could focus on other programs.

I rec'd an invite from UCLA and UCLA-Harbor, didn't apply to the rest. I have yet to take step2. If I was really interested in the programs I would give them a friendly "hey whats the status of my app" call. Just me, good luck!

Fear not. I have invites from UCLA, UCI, and Kaiser LA and I haven't even scheduled CK yet. Didn't apply to Harbor, but I'm fairly sure the situation is the same there. Good luck.
