I was doing an question bank and came across a question about a guy who suffered a laceration from a rusty object. He had not received any tetanus shots/booster within the past 10 years. His wound is swollen. The question is, do you give tetanus toxoid alone, anti-tetanus Ig, or both. The answer is both. I thought that if you were to give both at the same time they would cancel each other out. Is this at least true for other vaccines? Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help out with the question.
