Dear Everyone,

I'm in a little bind here:

I failed my Comlex CE (retaking in late Feb) and barely passed my Step 2CK exam (197/81) and Ob/Gyn programs are now starting to ask for my scores because I didn't have them reported yet.

My first question is, do I have to report both of them? Or can I just send them my CK report? I applied to only allopathic programs.

Secondly, I know that it is no excuse but I was going through a lot of personal issues at the time with my family when I took my step 2's. It's part of the reason I took them so late in the year. Is there a good way for me to try to explain this to them? Email? Letter? Etc.?

So scared ....

Thanks in advance!

I know a lot of my friends applied to only MD programs and did not submit their comlex step 2 scores. However, I would imagine its program dependent? If you were going to mention your scores as a weakness? then i would have done so at the interview..I am sure youll be fine.

You can't hide or withhold your COMLEX scores if you are an osteopathic student; you can withhold USMLE scores however

I prematched with out a COMLEX step II score, my program didnt even ask for it

Had you already sent them your Step 1 results before the step 2 results came in?
If not, then I don't think there is any way to avoid telling them since they will expect you to have those scores in and when they see Step 1 they will also be able to see the Step 2 results.
If you do have Step 1 already submitted, your best bet might just be to say that you are taking Step 2 in February (I would not volunteer the info about failing unless they ask about it specifically - though in that case of course you have to tell them). However, if a program is asking about step 2, I would not be very optimistic about them ranking you without a passing step 2 score available. Some programs don't care, but some do. To be on the safe side, I'd say that if you still have that prematch offer open, then it might be a good idea to take it in order to be sure that this issue doesn't trip you up in the match.
Good luck. I know that trying to focus on these tests is not easy if you have other problems going on too.
