my story: a classmate, with much higher board scores and better all around stats on paper, and i both interviewed at the same program. he ranked the program #1 because he loved it (and was already picking out houses, etc.). i did too, but i (stupidly*) ranked it number #2. long story short, i matched there and he didn't. it isn't "all" about board scores. coincidentally, the program he ended up matching at didn't even offer me an interview.
*when you make your rank order list, really be sure that you want to end up at whichever programs you highly rank. i panicked after submitting my list because i realized that, after thinking about it a little more during the week, i had made a big mistake and should've ranked my #2 as my #1. i got lucky and it worked out for me.
