I have to take my step 2cs during my sub-I and worried that it will hurt me missing a day during my sub-I... what is the best way to go about doing this? I am asking because i remember being an m3 and an m4 took a day off for testing and the residents were complaining about the m4.

those residents are douches then, because they were all in our shoes not too long ago. from what i've heard and seen missing 1 day for a BOARD exam is no problem at all. its not like its some optional test, they all know its part of what you have to do. attendings and residents usually do understand and will not hold it against you. imo.

Yeah, that's a bit surprising. As long as you give advance notice that you're going to be gone to take your board exam, there really shouldn't be such an issue. How else do they expect you to get things done? When did they do interviews?

I took time off for 2CS during my subi and my team didn't care at all (they all had to do it too!). What field is it in? B/c that could make a difference. Maybe if it's a more intense subi/field...? Does your school have provisions for this (our school has a rule of giving you the day off to take 2CK & 2CS) - maybe something to look into (just as far as giving you something to back you up etc). Good luck!

When I was doing my sub-I a senior resident suggested that I could take a whole week off if I wanted to (and for no reason). The same resident was furious when he found out one student left little early one day. Reason? If you show them you are good student and not slacking then taking a day off to write and exam is nothing of significance. However, if there are other issues any mistake you make will be used against you.
