Interns-to-be:

Hi. I hope the plans and activities prepping for intern year are going well.

My institution is requiring us to provide proof of having passed the Step exams, and want copies of our scores. I took Step 1 at a time when NBME sent paper score reports, but took CK after that time. I have looked high and low, and don't have a copy (saved pdf or printed copy) of my CK report. Does anyone have any method or know of any way to get a free copy of my own score report? The understanding folks at NBME want $50 for one copy.

Disclaimer: I know I shoulda printed this out when the score report came out, but I didn't or did and can't find it.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Best,

dc

I may be wrong but methinks you're hosed. You know the best part of this though? When they used to send Step scores in hard copy, it was on tamper resistant paper. Photocopies were completely black except the word COPY in bold type. Scanning it did the same thing. I had to take photos of my Step 1 and 2 score reports and then print them out. The quality is crap but my residency and fellowship both bought it. When I got my unlimited license though I had to get the official report.

When I got my Step 3 report, I printed out 20 copies of it and put half of them in our safe deposit box.

I'm in the same boat as you. I didn't realize there was a 120 day period for when results would be available online. Oops, my bad.

Since a USMLE transcript was required at the time of residency application, I asked my program if they would go through ERAS to get the scores they needed. My program said they would try and get the scores, and will notify me if they cannot. Hopefully, that will prevent me from paying the fee to get the scores.

I'd ask your program and see if they can go through ERAS to get the USMLE transcript. Hopefully, they'll be able to save you some money.

My step 1 score report was hard copy, but somehow came out ok when I photocopied it (this was the spring 2007 exam).
