Step I Study Method

My plan was to read review books in the morning and do questions in the afternoon/night time for Step 1. However, I was talking to friends, and they plan to use First Aid, supplement it with secondary sources if needed, and then do tons and tons of questions. What seems to be the tried and tested method for studying for Step I?

I have heard that reading the review books cover to cover during the 6 week study period can be too much, and there is no way to get through all the subjects using this method. However, relying too much on FA scares me as well. Does anyone have any tips on what they did?

If you don't feel you have enough time, the key is to prioritize. So first thing's first - get through and master all of first aid. After that's done, then begin to supplement it with other sources, either by annotating FA with them or studying them separately.

There's not really a best way, only the best way for you. People have a huge range of ways to approach this test, from the minimalist UW and FA only to 2 review books in every subject, Qbank, UW and every other question source under the sun.

If you just type study plans into the search box, you will find a ton of info and opinions about the different ways to tackle the beast. Example

One I've found extremely helpful is Taus' study plan. Personally, I think it's an extremely well-thought out and solid plan for organizing your studying.
