So I have a mix of competitive and non-compt programs that I am applying to-but I would say most are on the competitive end-just wondering what step scores you guys are applying with in general as I have NO clue what peoples steps are in psychiatry-no clue if I am competive or mediocre etc.

Step 1-219
Step2-216

anyone??

wow interesting-that is the first time I have ever seen publilshed numbers for residencies which is nice-could have used that last year when thinking about things! but wow-psychiatry is much higher average than I thought-210 is the average applicants step 1 score from the US-and it was much lower for non-us so that probably pulls the overall psych applicant down-but that is surprising since that is not too far from the average gen surg applicant step 1-now im freakinn out!

why are you "freakinn out"??? 😕 The median for surg is much higher at 219 and psych's is one of the lowest at 209....i'm not trying to be sarcastic, but obviously they take people with much lower scores according to the graph. according to your post, you have much higher scores; so why the freak out?

Only 10 points between gen surg and psych-psych being one of if the not the lowest-I wasjust thinking average would be closer to 200. 209 seems quite high for something that is the "lowest average scores" of any residency-I am freaking out cause a lot of my other app is very blah average-anyway i was more just curious as I had no clue-but that PDF was informing

I'm sure you're going to do great. 👍 If you're that concerned, did you consider adding some less competitive programs to your application? i think it is only 15$ extra per program to add. Just a thought...

Oh ya-my app is full of bottom tier programs-I am only applying cali and arizona-and arizona only has lower tier programs and I applied to all 3-so I feel those are somewhat safe bets but I learned from applying to medical school-there are NEVER SAFETY schools/programs-application jprocesses are just to random and subjective to be sure of anything!
