Hey everyone,

I'm running low on time (2 more weeks) to study and I have had Step Up to Medicine in my possession for awhile, but I find it impossible to get through without falling asleep or getting bogged down on details that I am unlikely to remember the next day.

So, I was wondering if there are certain chapters that are a must-read.
Obviously, it makes sense to read chapters I am weak on. This would be Cardiologyand Neurology. However, are there any other chapters that people would definitely recommend, or strategies for getting through this book?

The sad thing is I read the entire thing for medicine and did miserably on my shelf, so clearly it was not a big help to me the way it has been for so many others. Hopefully, my Step II experience will be different. I still have 29% of USMLEWorld and 13 NMS tests to get through, which is why I'm reluctant to spend a lot of time on Step Up Medicine.

Thanks!

I remember wondering the same thing. I somehow got through the book once during my medicine rotation but didn't want to slog through the whole thing again while studying for step 2.

I just chose my weakest subjects and read those chapters again- cardio, heme/onc, ID. I'd look things up in other chapters as a reference whenever a UW explanation didn't make sense (hah).

With 2 weeks to go and 30% of UW left, it looks like you're in good shape. Good luck!

At this point you should be doing questions all the time. No time to read step up.You know what you need to know for the exam now just keep practicing.

yeah, i read the cardiology and heme-onc chapters to Step Up medicine and that took me a whole day. Not sure if it was worth it. I'm just doing questions now from World...repeating my exams and making sure I don't repeat the same mistakes, etc.

Hopefully, this will be enough! I hope being familiar with one set of questions (all 2322 of them!) will be better than doing a ton of questions and not necessarily internalizing all of them.

I need to do well on this exam (i'm just starting my 4th year so it's not like I've already matched and everything!).

The 'ambulatory' section of Step Up is pretty good for Family Medicine information.
