I'm a senior at a 4 year university and I will be graduating soon. I've been considering a post-bacc but my gpa has not been looking so good.
My science gpa is 2.72 and overall is 2.92. The gpa range for the post-bacc schools I want to apply to seem to be within the 2.5-3.2 range but I don't know if I should still consider it because of my low gpa. I haven't taken the DAT yet because I'm debating if I should still consider pursuing dentistry with my gpa. So should I still consider post-bacc or just give up?

Hey predentanon,

People have gotten in with those undergrad GPAs from reading this forum. The key is to be motivated and do well in post bacc/masters programs. Shoot for A's. As for DAT, you'd definitely need to be on the higher end of the spectrum. 23+ with nothing lower than 20's I'd assume. If dentistry is what you want, then it will come eventually. But you definitely need to do well from here on out. Good luck!

OP I agree with the above poster and if you want to pursue dentistry YOU CAN. Your stats are not completely ruined and yes you would definitely would need a post bac and possible SMP (depends on where you would want to go).

You already said the range of schools you want to apply to is 2.5-3.2 and you have a 2.7 and 2.9 sgpa and ogpa so it is obvious that you have a decision to make because if you search these forums you will find stories where people said that they had terrible stats but through hard work and determination they got in.

If you do decide to continue moving forward definitely come up with an IDEAL plan to get 3.5-3.7 throughout post bac so that youll have an upward trend and can learn study techniques that work for you so that when you go to dental school you will be prepared for the rigor. With your stats there is no quick fix and it wont be easy but somewhere out in this world you have to find some motivation and a true purpose.
