Does anyone know whether some schools even send out rejection letters (namely Harvard, Hopkins, Baylor, Duke, Wash U, and Yale)? I have been complete at all of these schools since late August and have not heard anything post-secondary from 6 of the 15 schools I applied to. I was just wondering if maybe they don't tell you anything until like March, or if they don't send anything at all. Has anyone gotten rejection letters from any of these schools, or know if they even send them? At least one school has had the decency to send me a rejection letter and give me some closure. I have had 8 interviews, ranging in quality from OSU to Michigan (4 acceptances and a waitlist so far, 3 pending). So I'm curious if I still have a chance of hearing from these other schools or if I'm in some "hold" or "reject" category, but haven't been notified. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Note: I know I am very lucky to have gotten acceptances so far, and I am grateful for that. The point of this thread is to determine whether I should still hold out hope for the remaining schools, or just give up on them and have some closure to this long process. Thanks!

I haven't heard from 12 schools post-secondary.

asama...when were you complete? I feel like most of the people who still haven't heard from a lot of schools either applied late or took the August MCAT, neither of which apply to me.

Neither apply to me. I took the MCAT two years ago and I was complete early September.

i am still waiting post-secondary on 5 schools. would be 7, but i withdrew from 2 after i got into a school i really liked.

i have been wondering the same thing you have... is no news bad news that they just haven't sent yet?

i still have hope though. while i certainly don't expect to interview at all the schools left on my list, i would be surprized if none of them wanted to interview me. i bet i will still get another interview or two. the same is probably true for you. either way though, i don't really care that much anymore since i got into a school i would be psyched to go to. it would be nice to have choices, but it sure is nice to not have to worry anymore. 😉

I just got interview from Yale yesterday after being complete since late Sept. As for Hopkins and Wash. U. Yeah, I've been complete at both of those since mid Sept and haven't heard a word. Go figure. I don't really understand this process

there is another thread on this topic already. you might want to do a search for it...

i still haven't heard from 10 schools post-secondary. i've been put on hold pre-interview at 2 schools, and rejected from 2 schools. i have completed 5 interviews and have 2 more after the new year... and i submitted everything super early. in fact, i was complete at most schools by mid-sept at the very latest. i think we may hear from schools soon though. most of the places that i called said that i should hear something within a couple weeks (rejection maybe??). i think november was a major bottleneck for many schools because of the deadlines. also, things may start to thin out since some people may start withdrawing apps once they are accepted elsewhere. there isn't much we can do now but wait, wait, and wait some more. people always said that waiting is the hardest part--and they weren't kidding!!! the MOST IMPORTANT thing to remember is that IT AIN'T OVER TIL IT'S OVER!!! people still receive interviews and ACCEPTANCES all the way into April, and for some, in the summer!!! just sit tight and *enjoy* the ride 🙂

by the way, i too took the MCAT a long time ago and submitted my AMCAS and secondaries early in the process.

It's especially frustrating since everyone keeps asking me what my #1 choice is, and I can't really say until I hear from all these schools!

you are not alone. I haven't heard from 15+ schools . This is with april MCAT and secondary completion in late octuber

I don't know about the other ones, but Harvard doesn't start invitations until after all applications are in and reviewed. Since the final deadline was three weeks ago, I'm guessing that they will probably start making decisions soon. All I know is that I'm complete there and at Hopkins, so now I just chill until somebody decides to tell me something.

By the way, I've only heard back from one of the 13 schools I sent secondaries to (and at that one I've already had my interview). I've been complete at some places for over a month now. Is this an unusal amount of time? I know I'll hear something eventually, but it would be nice to have another interview or two as a Christmas present.

umass rower...one month is definitely not an usually long amount of time. Like I said earlier, I have been complete at most schools since late August, so I'm at about 3.5 months for many schools. Three of my interview invites came after I was already complete for 2 months.

fyi, harvard's started interviews a few weeks ago...

FYI: Harvard started interviews a couple MONTHS ago...not a few weeks. I interviewed there in mid October. They will only extend interviews for another month, and will make all decisions in mid Feb (positive AND negative decisions will be sent out on Feb 28 for MD applicants). Hopkins is a rolling institution, and though they have sent out quite a few acceptances/alternates they will continue to interview well into March (possibly even April). In fact, Paul White (D. of Admissions) was still attempting to fill this year's entering class when I was there last JUNE. Point: you've still got time for Hopkins. Yale is not a rolling school, and will interview well into March.

I've been complete at washU and Penn since September and still no word. They'd be tripping balls if they decided to interview me so I am assuming it's a rejection. I wouldn't interview me if I were WashU! haha! Needless to say, please don't ask why I applied there in the first place... just cause???

I have been complete since aug and have not heard from the following schools: tufts, GW, finch, rush, temple, jefferson.

I'm waiting to hear from a ton of schools, 15+. So far, it looks like if the letter comes with an adhesive sticky label preprinted - then the news won't be good.

Some interviews, an acceptance and a basket full of no response after three months.

To the OP... it def. seems like many people are still hanging in the balances, myself included. I wouldn't fret if you haven't heard anything yet. I'm waiting on 10+ schools still. The way I figure it, if you've been complete for a while, they would have already sent you a rejection if they didn't like you right off the bat. You're still in the running is how I look at it!

Does anyone know if med schools send rejections in batches? It's strange because I got 3 rejections in October then some interviews and then 3 more rejections at the same time just this week. Any thoughts on this?

Does anyone know if Temple, Drexel, or Meharry are sending out rejections. I've been complete for months and I haven't heard from any of those schools so I'm trying to determine if it's a good thing (like maybe they're still considering me).

I applied late, so I have no right to bitch yet, but I know for some people decisions have been made quickly, so I keep checking my mailbox and my email compulsively. So far, nothing.

The way I look at it, no news is good news. You're not out until you get it in writing.
