STILL waiting on hopkins!?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm still waiting as well, but my application was considered complete on 2/16. 🙁 Best of luck to you! I thought about sending an email out to harass someone, but I don't know who to harass.

Me there! I sent an email to the admission office, and they gave me another email belonging to someone in the department to which I applied. Then I sent another email to the guy, but got no reply.

Me too! Although it's only been a few weeks but yeah.

Same. Admissions gave me an email for the department's academic coordinator. I've emailed twice in the past 5 weeks and have gotten no reply.

Any news? Anyone hear from the epi department for the MHS?

just finally got accepted 18/3/11 after 8wks and 3 days. I hope the length of my review is any help. Best wishes at your application

Have you contacted your recommender to find out if/when they submitted your rec? If they submitted it, can you contact the school to find out what your options are?

Anyone still waiting? I applied for an MSPH and would love to hear from the Population,Family, and Reproductive Health Dept... I have become obsessed with checking the app. portal site..

Has anyone heard back at all for MHS in Epi? I don't think I've seen any acceptances or rejections so far, but just want to double check...

Still waiting on MPH application (complete in mid-December). Called the Admissions office, but apparently their business hours are 8am-12pm, so I couldn't talk to a person to find out if anything odd is going on. Considering that other schools want a decision by April 15, I'm a bit puzzled by when JHU will actually sent a decision by.

Any word on Hopkins yet?

STILL waiting on MHS Epi...

Has anyone been accepted or rejected??

I'm still waiting! Seriously, they're holding onto my application for dear life (and not letting go!).

Finally got an email with acceptance to the MHS epi program.

Finally got an email with acceptance to the MHS epi program.

Guys!
I just got an email from an admission staff telling me that I has been accepted to JHU! I sent the inquiry email only a couple of hours ago! I applied to the ScM program of Epi.😀

Wow - congrats! Guess they're finally starting to roll out...but now I'm even more nervous about not hearing anything!

Do you two mind posting your stats?

And did your status change on the application site?

I'm headed to boston (to visit harvard), then baltimore this week and next and hope to dovetail a hopkins visit if possible...come on decision!

Of course! My stats aren't very great, so I didn't expect to be accepted to Hopkins.

My status didn't change. I only got an informal reply saying that the mail was on the way and they wanted me to know as soon as possible. Good luck with you!😀

So, have been reading posts here for a while, alternating between hope and despair, and like most people, compulsively checking the website and my email...

Applied only to Hopkins, it was the only place I really felt led to (I am an international student), and having submitted on Nov 30th with the application listed as complete on Dec 4th, heard nothing for 4 MONTHS!!! till yesterday, when I discovered an email telling me I need to get a visa!!!!

So for all who are still waiting, let me give the same hope that I got from others on sdn, it's not over yet!!! God is so amazing!!!

Tropical,

Congratulations on your acceptance! I'm an international student too and I was also accepted to JHU. Which program/department did you apply to? You mean you got your admission decision as well as visa information via email? A staff member told me yesterday my acceptance letter was in the mail to me. It's weird that they use different ways to notify applicants.🙄

Just to keep this going....is anyone else STILL waiting on hopkins?

I'm very close to accepting my offer at harvard, but may still consider hopkins. i'm also just blown away by the fact that they are so behind. it is both frustrating and confusing!

any insights?

Hmm..Peri have you called the office in person? (I haven't been checking this forum as of late, so I apologize if you've already tried this) I found the JHSPH admissions office to be extremely helpful whenever I called in the past. Maybe someone could tell you when to expect a decision?

I was really, really impressed with JHU when I visited-- so much so that I've committed to Hopkins for the Fall 😛

I hope you hear good news from them soon, but Harvard isn't a bad alternative so it seems like either way you are in a good position no matter what!

Yes, I have called/emailed hopkins many, many times - i feel like a real nuisance! the admissions office is always very friendly and helpful, but they always direct me to the program coordinator for the epi department. I have called her, emailed her, left voicemails over the past 6 weeks and she has not returned a single one! to be honest, that is souring me on the department, but i can't help feeling like there must be something strange going on with my application...sooo frustrating!

has anyone else been in touch with the epi department directly?

and, congrats on your acceptance to jhu and your decision!!
i'm glad to hear that the visit day was so positive. thank you for the info!

Peri, I am still waiting as well. I applied for the part time MPH just before the February 1 deadline so I expected a long wait. Online my app was listed as completed February 8. I sent a single inquiry to Hopkins to confirm receipt of my app and they replied a decision would be made 8-10 weeks after the app was forwarded to the committee. Today is the eight week mark, but I assume everyone gets a reply prior to April 15.

From what I have read in this forum the pattern seems to be that Hopkins sends out decisions on Tuesdays and Fridays. I am hoping to hear something back today. Hopkins is the only program I applied to so my anxiety level is pretty high. I have considered calling or emailing, but I don't want to irritate the admissions office and I figure when they make a decision they will let me know. Until then I can just compulsively check my email, spam folder, the website, and my regular mail.

Anyone else apply to the part time program at Hopkins? Get a decision yet?

I also have not heard yet, but I'm going to another school so it doesn't really matter.

I did receive an email in January asking me about a transcript issue. I thought I had resolved it because I sent them more information and I didn't hear anything back after that. Then, two months later in March, I got an email saying they hadn't reviewed my application yet because they were waiting on the same transcript. Huh? Then, before I could even respond, they decided that I had, after all, sent them enough information, so *now* they would forward my application to the department. Great, thanks a lot!

My personal interactions and advice from colleagues have turned me off from this school. However, I'm sure it will be a great place for some people. I visited the school awhile back and it's a great facility, and there's a lot of interesting research going on.

If you do go there...it's fast-paced. Alums have recommended that you really be pro-active about talking to faculty, asking them about their work and how they like what they're doing.

has anyone who has been waitlisted been contacted with an acceptance? I know they usually wait until after April 15th but there's still a possibility now...

Penguin,

I applied to the part time program as well. I sent my application off on Jan 8 and after checking my application for the 145th time on Feb 28 I got the admission letter. The actual admission email arrived on the 15th of March. I was confused about the delay, especially since I'd already replied yes, but fine with me. Good luck to you!

Hey mandyL, sorry took me ages to reply, haven't been online in a while, the visa information was from the OIS (Office for International Students) and was just directing me to the sites for accepting and confirming funding so that they could send me the I-20. The acceptance later came about a week later by Fedex. I guess my major issue now is that I haven't confirmed funding 🙂(sigh), so can't accept as yet... 78K is a whole lot of money whichever way you look at it (and it certainly doesn't help when I convert it to my home currency and it comes to millions...)

Was not told specifically whether I got the concentrations I wanted, but was interested in child health and health systems management. How about you?

Tropical,

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I was told by a stuff member that I was accepted into the clinical epidemiology track, which I applied to. I paid the enrollment deposit online several days ago, but haven't got any email since then except for the confirmation of submitting enrollment form and receipt of the payment. (I can't believe I paid the deposit before I got the official decision letter from hopkins...So I don't know anything about funding right now.)The OIS didn't contact me. Did you apply for PHD program? I'm in the ScM program.

Wow. STILL have not heard from hopkins!!!!! I applied back on DECEMBER 1st and have yet to hear ANYTHING good or bad :/
I've been accepted into every school I applied to, but what the heck happened with hopkins? I'm so irritated because I've been strung along that I'd hear each week since the beginning

I would suggest you write to a specific individual in the admissions office, (the website has some names) then call them if necessary, especially as their deadline for accepting offers of admission is April 15th, they must have some sort of decision for you. Sorry for the frustration and congratulations on your acceptances!

thanks Tropical! It is really frustrating and I'm really disheartened by them not getting back to me :/ oh well, already made a decision anyway!

epidepid,

You are not alone. From private messages with other applicants, I know a few accepted Monday and Tuesday. It just showed up on the online application. I don't know anyone that has been successful in contacting the office recently so please let me know if you are. I assume they are just understaffed and overwhelmed. Be thankful you have already made a decision that doesn't involve them. Their part time option is the only program that matched my needs so I'm forced to just wait and hope. Please contact me if you are able to actually speak to a human being there.

For anyone else still waiting, I received an email reply from Hopkins stating that my application is still under review and they hope to have a decision within a week. It also stated that anyone admitted after April 15 will have two weeks to make a decision about attending.

For those still waiting on Hopkins, don't give up just yet. I received an email today congratulating me on my acceptance into the MPH program. I even got a partial scholarship. The online app that I was checking everyday still doesn't reflect the acceptance. Glad I check my email often! Love my BlackBerry! Good luck to anyone still waiting. I know it's hard.
