I hadn't heard about this case, and don't know all the details.

I don't have any good answers to the opioid situation. From my anecdotal experienced, I know of a doctor who catered to and created addicts, and s/he's clearly not the only one nationwide. And we all know someone who has OD'd on narcotics, who had their addiction started or supplemented by prescriptions. On the other hand, I know of a couple of people who had been working full time when their pain was controlled with narcotics, and now because of the crack down, they were taken off narcotics, and they are no longer able to work. I know the answer hasn't been found yet.....addicts are still being created and supplemented by prescribers, and pain patients are still suffering and having LQL because of prescribers hesitant to prescribe any narcotics.

It's clearly a difficult issue, because with all the money waiting to be made, if a drug company could figure out a way to treat pain without causing the mental issues of narcotics, they would have done so already.

PS I like your name, have you tried Pronounce Fondaparinux?
