Hi everyone and thanks for posting. I just wanted to know your overall impression for the school/interview. How was the interview structured ? Did you get to talk to upper class students? How did you like the neighborhood? If you don't mind what were your stats.
Balki, Stony Brook would first inform you by emailing you and asking you to call them to set up a date. The interview structured like this.... Tour -->Financial Aid --> Interview --> Lunch with two students (a senior and a junior). Stony Brook is located in the suburbs and it's rather quiet and I didnt' really venture the area alot. My stats are in the first page of stats page.
HEY bingpredent,
I learned that you interviewed at Stony Brook. I have an interview there in nov. It would be great if you gave me some of you personal view of the school, anythimg that you learned about it, that i have not read from the threads. and if you applied to other schools like Uconn or Buffallo - what do you think about stony brook so far compared to these schools
Before I apply to Stony, I heard a couple of posts stating that Stony do not have that good of patient base (located in the suburb and all). When I asked the students, they told me that they had no problem finding patients and that their clinics are booked for about 3 months!
Stony Brook has a super small class size about 40 students. The pros of this is that you get lots of individual attention and cons is that you are forced to interact with everyone (including the one you don't like)... So their class size is what makes stony stand out.
Oh, their interview is very laid back and they don't really ask alot of questions, so be prepared to ask some good questions.
I'm going to buffalo for an interview this thursday and did not apply to ucon.
Here are the pros and cons of Stony:
Pros:
1. Small Class size - Lots of individual attention and very close knit.
2. Low Tuition
3. Like only 4 sim labs
4. An hour away from NYC.
Cons:
1. I believe housing in Long Island is rather expensive.
2. Small class size - for those who wants to get to know more classmates for the next 4 years.
3. What, only 4 simlabs!!!? (NYU got like 100)
4. Area is too quiet.
