Calling NYCOM and PCOM and requesting secondary fee back if I haven't heard from them by May 15th.

I held up my end of the deal/met my deadlines by submitting both secondaries last AUGUST.

Both confirmed receipt.

$50-PCOM
$60-NYCOM

I can think of a lot of things I can do with $110

It's about time applicants start standing up to these admissions people. We're not here to fund their faculty lunches, those fees go to process my application and clearly that was never properly done.

If they can't take the 2 minutes to write me a letter I definitely can afford the 5 it takes to call and ask to speak to the associate dean of admissions about the unacceptable situation...

who's with me?

I'm still years away from applying, but I admire your spirit. It seems foolhardy, reckless, and likely to focus needless negative attention on you. But that's no reason not to do it.

Just be careful. 1000 people charging at a brick wall can knock it down, and one person doing the same can get a nice concussion. 😀

I am definitely with you. My application was complete in January. I have only heard back from PCOM and that was to tell me that I forgot my application fee of $50 (when in reality they must have lost it, because I have it recorded that I sent it, and I remember attaching it to the application). Come May 15 I will be making that call. 😡

I hope I'm still around these boards in a few years to see how "reckless" it is when mommy and daddy aren't paying your way anymore...

Hey, if you are paying your own way and don't mind giving to the NYCOM/PCOM faculty lunch charity fund thats your perogative...

Not trying to be nasty, just trying to put a stop to this, I know its been going on with these schools for a few years and the school's haven't been held accountable...

to each his own.

Interesting how you commented on PCOM and NYCOM.... I, too, had problems with them when I was applying.... Maybe there is something to be said.... Hope your spirit doesn't die and get disheartened about the whole process... much luck... 😎

I have not heard a single word from PCOM. I got into 2 other Osteopathic Schools, and didn't even get an interview there. It made me wonder if they thought I didn't take them seriously or something? I too will send a strongly worded letter.

Add UMDNJ to the list. I didn't apply to NYCOM, but I've already heard from all of the schools except PCOM and UMDNJ.

My MCAT and GPA are above average, I'm in-state, I've been accepted by institutions with tougher criteria, and I wrote some solid essays, but I haven't even received the courtesy of a rejection letter for months now. I can understand if they're not interested, but it is very obnoxious to leave people hanging in the wind knowing that they don't have a chance now. From my understanding, PCOM hasn't sent any rejection letters to applicants that weren't invited for interviews. Honestly, that's rude at the very least. The LEAST they can do is send out a brief rejection letter to applicants they don't like.

Homersimpson - I understand your frustrations, brother, but don't burn your bridges along the way. It's best to take it on the chin in situations like these because you will need them much more than they will need you in the future. Just think, what if you're looking for a residency or a job they have but you don't get it because they remembered (or were informed from the adcoms about) your "outrageous" actions from a few years ago? Also, second-time-applicants are usually given a benefit of the doubt. I don't know your situation but if you're forced to reapply to schools, it's best to talk to admissions counselors and reapply to the same schools in addition to adding a few new ones. The admissions people from these schools might be able to tell you why you didn't get an interview. You are burning up your second chance opportunities. It's just not prudent. I would say just take it lying down, because it's not in your best interest to alienate people or institutions in the medical field already (especially in osteopathy with only 20 schools).

And worst of all, just think about this for a moment before you act: what if they are really still reviewing every application to make sure they didn't miss anyone? I know people who were interviewed and accepted in August at UNE. Is it really smart to give adcoms an earful if it might jeopardize your now less than 1% chance of acceptance?

ramsestiger point well taken...

They'll definitely hear from me at some point but I probably won't be the rage-a-holic (addicted to rageahol) I once was...

Just letting you guys know, I got a letter from PCOM about 10 days ago stating that their class is full.

anger growing... growing.. falling... GROWING!!!

(come on, don't you guys watch any Simpsons)

I'll add Ohio-U and Wright state to the list.

clearly there are no simpsons fans around here... I stand corrected by myself, the actual quote is:

"urge to kill falling... falling.... growing... falling"

anyone remember that Halloween Special at the end when they are all huddled around the little TV and get frozen together after NO TV AND NO BEER MAKE HOMER SOMETHING SOMETHING?

sheesh... 😉

anyway, I didn't know there was a list, but I could make a

"prick list"

1.) PCOM
2.) NYCOM
3.) UMDNJ
4.) Wright State
5.) Ohio-U

ahh the gift of anonymity... lol

i haven't heard anything from ohio-u either. i sent in my secondary about 8 monthes ago.

I am a huge Simpsons fan. My wife and I watch it every night at 10 and 10:30. I also have not heard what is happening with a few schools OSUCOM and PCSOM. They did tell me they had recieved all my information though. I think they are just waiting till the end of the interview cycle to send out the rejection letters.

"urge to kill falling... falling.... growing... falling"

Actually, the quote is, "urge to kill fading...fading...fading...gone...(TV pops on)...urge to kill rising..."

Not to be nit-picky or anything 🙂...but I do take great pride in Simpson's trivia...

BTW, H0mersimps0n, rage-ahol quote from before is one of my faves too..how 'bout when he gets his rage back and starts punching the cat in the face...buwahahah!

from "Angry Dad" (and from memory)

"look Homer you're punching the cat right now"

"Bin Laden in a Blender"

"help yourself to some stock"

"whats one-million times nothing, and don't say nothing!"

"if anything, Bart should punish you"

sorry everyone I couldn't resist....

any more to add to the list?
