I'm currently a second year "fellow" in neuropsychology. My first year was full of all sorts of surprises. I was led to believe my fellowship would be in line with Houston conference guidelines. There were no neuropsychology didactics. I was being told to go to psychiatry and primary care didactics. I got one hour of face to face supervision per week. The conference stipend advertised on the website was not available, and there were lots of other fun surprise. I stuck with it to have the "stamp" that I finished a formal post doc and was told that leaving and applying elsewhere would look bad. I currently complete 3 assessments per week without a psychometrist and bill on average 10 hrs per evaluation. I had two patients no show this past week and I took one sick day in September. I'm being told now that I have to "make up" and add cases anytime I'm sick or take leave. I understand adding a patient if another no shows, but what's the point of sick leave and leave if I add the time back? This is also a large University not a small private practice. Is this normal? Since the other fellow quit and I'm not with any other residents I have no clue what's normal and what I should just accept and wait out or say something about.

I wouldn't say the first handful of things you mentioned are "normal." That just sounds like the fellowship perhaps misrepresented the training, and it's tough to be in line with Houston conference guidelines without any neuropsych didactics. Making up patient contact hours isn't entirely unusual, particularly if a trainee is low and/or under requirements in that regard; it's probably more common as an employee than a trainee, but it does happen.
