hey guys,

I submitted my FAFSA a while back but as the March deadline approaches I wanted to make sure I don't have to make any corrections or add anything to it at this point.

I went to my SAR, and I saw a line "WHAT YOU MUST DO NOW (Use the checklist below to make sure that all of your issues are resolved.)" but didn't see a blatant checklist below; I just saw a grid populated with all my data, like name, address, financial info. Does this mean there's nothing left for me to complete?

Basically my main concern was with the IRS Data Retrieval tool. I think somewhere on FAFSA/in an email I got, I was told I am eligible to use it and it appeared to suggest I should go back and use it.

Is it mandatory to use this tool? If I don't are there any consequences? My father straight-up told me he doesn't want to me to go back and use it, and he's quite stubborn lol.

thanks guys!

It's not mandatory to use it, but it is easier. FAFSA is going to be getting the same info from you no matter what, but I would rather just click a few buttons than ask my mom to get her taxes and then manually look for all the info and type it in. Honestly if you did everything correctly the first time, there is no need. It is there for your connivence and for accuracy. There are no consequences to not using it, but for most it'll shave off like 30 min on the FAFSA.

If you got a confirmation email from FAFSA, you are fine.

Did it say "processed successfully"? Then you're fine. If there are any issues, the school's financial person will contact you. Not a big deal. Nothing to stress over.

The data retrieval tool lessens the chances of human entry error.
