i just found this forum not too long ago and i gotta say..
it's pretty great so far
wish i found this site a lot sooner!

i've browsed through many topics/stickies/faqs but could not find much information about getting into postbac programs

i am a RECENT uc grad with an overall gpa of about 2.85
it appears that many postbac programs have a cutoff gpa of 3.0

is there anything i can do to make myself appear as a stronger candidate?
how strict are many of the schools requiring a gpa of 3.0?
so far.. it seems like sfsu has a great postbac program that might accept someone with a gpa similar to mine

If you really want to get into a formal program, rather than taking the classes by your own initiative, you'd have to have something that really stands out to get yourself in. Do a stint as a health officer in the Peace Corps and set up an Africa-wide network of mobile free clinics. Get your name on the paper that decodes the gene linked to Alzheimer's Disease. Basically, anything that shows that you're really a special, unique person that the field of medicine would be lucky to have.
