just wondering what you all thought about staying with a student host instead of a hotel. i know it will be a lot cheaper, but there can be a lot of possible distractions and stuff too. also, how do you find out about student hosts?
thanks

Most schools send out interview request letters with a URL or emails to contact regarding student hosting.

Im doing student hosting everywhere I can, because its cheap, students tend to live very close to medical centers, and hosts are very very helpful in preparing you for your interview, getting you around places, and just being plain cool.

Definitely stay with a student host if you can. You won't regret it.

Ditto and amen!

We talked about this a few years ago, if you stay with a student host you really should give them some little gift. I think some of the suggestions were.... a small coffe gift basket, gift certificates to area eaterys, 6 pack of coke or alcohol if the drink, postage stamps, bath oils, etc.......

The consensus was something small $15 bucks or under to say thank you.

Stay with a host. You'll learn more about the school from them than during your interview day probably.

I always tried to take my hosts out for dinner if I got there in time. You can talk over dinner and med students are all about food.
