I'm planning on applying for dental school this summer for Fall 2005 admission. I'm planning on going abroad Fall Quarter (Sept-Dec) 2004. Will this affect my chances of getting an interview? When are interviews usually? It's sort of an odd time to go abroad, since I'd basically be cutting off a lot of contact, but it's definately a priority while I'm still an undergrad. If you're granted an interview, do you get to choose a date that works? In my case, I'd want it to be in early January or later...

Thanks!

You would be hurting your chances for admission if you post pone any interviews into jan or feb. Its better to interview as soon as possible, or before Dec1. That is the first day that school can grant acceptances.

I am not sure if you could apply for 2005 yet.
Do you mean applying 2004 summer for admission 2005?

yes, I'd be applying during Summer 2004. But my study abroad applications are due in February, so I'm getting started on them now. Maybe I should wait to go abroad until Winter or Spring 2005. Although, I really want to go Fall 2004.

Tough.
Since you will need to be "here" for interviews.
Even summer programs are a little tough.
Unless you are willing to fly back and forth,
I wont suggest you do it.
Could you study aboard Spring 2004?

Where do you plan on studying abroad?

I was planning on going to London, but I just found out that my school doesn't sponsor the program I liked. So right now, I'm either going to go with the same program, but through an independent study type thing, or choose somewhere else. Possibly Vienna.

I also scheduled a meeting with my predental advisor for next week, maybe he can help me figure out when to go abroad.
