Wondering if I am doing something wrong... Hi newbie to the forums here..

I recently studied abroad in the UK and returned in August. I went with an affliated program (ISA) to be exact, and have yet to get any transcripts from the affliated program. That means they have not been added to my current universities transcript.

When I go into the WES evaluation, they are wanting to charge me $160 for a basic evaluation. For 2 classes... 6 credits. That seems kinda steep and like I did something wrong.

Has anyone else had to submit study abroad transcripts and can advise me on if this seems accurate, or if I am overlooking something?

Really appreciate it!

Hey there! I was in a similar situation. Studied at an english speaking school, but because it's not accredited in America I had to do the evaluation. Ended up costing me like $200+ for 5 classes, that gave the credit hours and grades A-F. Really frustrating.

So expensive. Guess I just have to suck it up and pay for it! Thanks for the response. 🙂

I studied abroad but those classes were added as part of my university transcript because it was a faculty-led program. That's why OTCAS did not require a transcript from the school I studied abroad at.

This is copied from the FAQ from OTCAS

"Study Abroad
Grades and Credits Appear on the Home School Transcript:

  • If your study abroad coursework appears on your home school’s transcript with full grades and credits, then you should list these courses under your home school. During the review and finalize portion of your Transcript Entry section, you should classify these courses as “Study Abroad.”
Grades and Credits DO NOT Appear on the Home School Transcript:
If your study abroad coursework does NOT have grades or credits on you home school’s transcript, you must determine the way in which you went abroad.

  • If you went through another Overseas U.S. Institution, the you need to report this school in your Colleges Attended section, and list your coursework under that school in your Transcript Entry section. A transcript WILL be required for that school.
  • If you studied abroad using any U.S. study abroad company, you must report a Foreign school on your application. You will NOT be able to list your coursework. You must then contact your OT programs directly to ask if they require the company transcript be sent DIRECTLY TO THE THEM. Do NOT send company transcripts to OTCAS."
If your grades and credits show up on your home university transcript then nothing to worry about. A popular way to study abroad is through a U.S. study abroad company that works with your university so if you did that then you send the transcript to the school you're applying to and not to OTCAS. Good luck!
