I am away from biology and math for a while now. Would really appreciate some advice on how to study those materials. I guess it is impossible to go over campbell biology book word by word under my schedule.

thank you

I was also a little rusty in bio before I took the DAT. To prepare, I read the bio section in the Kaplan book, read relevant chapters in an old intro to bio textbook I had, and made flashcards of the concepts I learned.

To prepare for the math section, I read the math portion of the Kaplan book, but I heard that others on SDN found it helpful to study the math sections in old SAT and GRE books.

Although these study methods worked for me they may not work for you because everyone has a different way of learning. Some people learn better if they practice and others learn better if they read more. Find which method works best for you.

If you are a little rusty in bio and math don't worry because you have plenty of time. I started studying just 2 months before the exam and I did just fine.

I took the dat after not having taken a science class in 4 years and found taking the Kaplan DAT class very helpful. Some people think the kaplan class is a waste, but having been out for a while, I found the structured environment really helpful. Yes, it is expensive, but I found it to be worthwhile - I took the online version of the class as I was working full time. If you don't have time for that, get the Kaplan Blue Book and know it in as much detail as possible and take a few practice tests with Top Score Pro. Good luck!

What I found to be helpful was taking practice tests, and studying in depth thigs that I didn't know. Even if I got the right answer, I still looked into each answer b/c they may ask a question refering to that answer.

I took the Kaplan DAT class as well and as an overall scope i found it to be very useful for the bio only!! It gave a good run through of what you should know for the exam. So i woudl definitely try to get my hands on the Kaplan book. I also used Topscore Achiever and Destroyer all for practice problems.
