I will be starting my first year in August, taking anatomy and biochem. I was wondering if any of you had some suggestions on good and helpful study books to supplement course texts. I have heard that the USMLE step 1 First Aid series is a good companion to texts, but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Get yourself the following

Lippincott Biochem
First Aid
Underground Clinical Vignettes -the entire series or just Anatomy or Biochem.

Your Anatomy book should be Moore and Daly that is a great clinical book.

All good recs. I'd add Netter for an atlas, Netter's flashcards for exam review, and the BRS anatomy review book (Chung).

Ditto!
Lippincott's Biochem review
Chung's BRS Anatomy
Netter
Clinical Oriented Anatomy

That should be about all you need, the First Aid for USMLE 1 is pretty good, but you could put that off until it is time to study boards. I think the above list would be more than enough, with the exam review flashcards of course. If you can get through all that, then you are probably more than ready and you should go out and have a beer or something. Good luck
