No, I hate them. I hate the feeling of confinement, and I hate other people surrounding me (separated only by a semi-wall). I feel like a drone.

I prefer to use study/conference rooms where I can have a comfy chair and a table to spread out my things (plus dry erase boards).

This. Those stupid things need to be set on fire.

I prefer the classrooms. I take up 3 seats, just laying out all my crap over everything. I also get to put my feet up.

It's awesome.

👍

I prefer the study carrels at my school's library. Each carrel is a closed-off private room that measure about 6'x10' with a desk and lamp. You have to check them out each month and they have a lockable door so you can leave your stuff in them when you go home. I really like being able to study all day/night and not have be bothered by anyone.

Where's the option for "sometimes"?

The most important variables are the chairs involved and the environment. We have "silent study" areas which are smaller rooms with fairly large study carrels. We still have dry erase boards. Also, since it is a specific crowd, we tend to leave our crap there all the time.

I do not like the cubicles. I have used one maybe 1 hour out of the whole first year. I prefer either home study (I rarely go to lecture) or study rooms which have white boards and plenty of space.

They have an open section of the library under the sky light that has several tables laid out. I like those since all the outlets work on them for my laptop.

I like the cubicles... nice blinders and everything (I am easily distracted)

Nope. I tried earlier in the year, didn't work for me. Shifted to an open environment or an enclosed table in the library. That worked wonders for me. I also prefer going to some place off my medical school campus.

the cubicles in the OP's picture are pretty grim. like really grim.

I have used the study cubes in my life, but I would not use those....that, and when you're hunched over in one in the "zone", if somebody taps you on the back it tends to scare the hell of you. and maybe you spill your coffee. and it's really embarrassing.

just saying.
