Hello, guys

I saw many of them got really good scores on DAT especially on Biology section...

I know that chad's video is good for chem and orchem..

How about Biology section?? How did you study for it?

what materials did you guys use???

Did you actually read whole campbell text book???

I will appreciate your comments!!!!

cliff's ap notes and campbells are pretty good resources

of course, a solid foundation of biology from your undergrad years in college would help tremendously

-Cliff's AP (Best one)
-Kaplan Bio (good reinforcement)
-Barron's AP Biology (however, go through the book and only study the tables/diagrams/pictures)
-Campbell's (good reinforcement...and no, you don't read the whole book...you just look up concepts that you believe need clarification or are just not fully covered in the other books)

All four of these and I'm sure you'll get 20+ on Bio! Good Luck!

I got a 27 in biology and used the following:
Campbell's book, Cliff's AP bio (do the full exams and understand answers), Kaplan review notes, MCAT kaplan book has a better explanation on embryology, Topscore, Schaum's A-Z Biology is awesome to clarify concepts 🙂 I loved it. Very easy to follow explanations

@CaninoCariado if you dont mind me asking, which edition of Cliffs AP bio book did you use? I am having a hard time with the bio portion of the test and it would really help if u could let me know... Thanks...

I made some suggestions on my blog. I have DAT study plan suggestions for each section including the biology.

My recommendation for materials is Cliff AP (less than $10 at my blog store), along with kaplan to fill in any gaps. Use practice exams kaplan, destroyer, top score, or achiever to test your progress and to use as a study tool. Each question you should know why each answer is correct or incorrect. It does not help (for study purposes) to know only how to pick out the right answer. 👍

You are the first person to say this. although I agree its an amazing resource (filled with good material), but what good is the material if they put you to sleep within the first 10 minutes of reading?

I honestly believe Schaums Biology is an anti-insomniac

Just wondering but is it required that you skim through the entire campbell book for the important concepts or only ch 19-21 and or is it recommended?

Practice tests:

datqvault
Kaplan
Barron's (watch for errors...)
Topscore

Get your hand on as many questions as possible!

Hey guys,

So i started studying for the bio section of the exam using an AP book. 5 steps to a 5 AP Biology. And it has a lot of plant stuff. Is there a lot of plant related questions on the DAT?

Thanks

i didn't get much about plants! but every test is different.

cliff's and topscore worked for me-but the key is not to spend too much time studying for bio because it's so random! your time is better spent mastering the chemistries

Yeah.. But I wanted to spend 3 weeks or so this summer focusing on biology. I have forgotten a lot of the fundamental, basic, intro bio stuff. Took it 3 yrs ago. All thats fresh on my mind right now is endocrine, etc stuff. things i took recently.

Here is my plan, let me know what you think:

Materials:
1. MCAT biology book from princeton review (this one biology book alone is the size of kaplans DAT review book) I want to read this because it goes into detail on many topics. and i have heard ppl say it was helpful and a good prep for the bio section.

2. Cliffs AP biology Flashcards - 1000 flashcards
3. Barrons AP biology Flashcards - 500 flashcards

4. 5. 6. Barrons AP biology/Cliffs AP biology/5 steps to a 5 AP Biology - to ans the questions in the book only.

7. Kaplan DAT Biology section (Blue book).
8. Biology Text book - solomon, berg. (might even buy an older edition campbell book and use that instead.) Is campbell really that much better?

i randomly decided to go to the datqvault website earlier tonight and i took a test, its pretty good practice. i think this would be a good way to quiz yourself on bio when youre done studying.
also exam krackers bio is pretty good in my opinion, stole this from my bro's stash of old mcat prep & its got ample amounts of detail.
i never used campbells when studying for my DAT last time, but i hear its good i dont think it matters much on the edition you buy i feel like material/content stays the same they just like to update pictures or something & call it a new edition.........
