Ok so I have kind of explained this in another thread, but I am planning on taking the DAT this July before I take the Ochem sequence. Before you say I am crazy, just know that there are a lot of extenuating circumstances that make this the best choice for me.

That said, I plan on buying study materials and begin studying next week. Can anyone please recommend materials for the test as a whole and, of course, materials that I can use to self-teach Ochem?

I really appreciate it!

I took organic back in 2006-2007 and really didn't try to learn it at the time. I started studying for the DAT in October and with my organic background I was really intimidated by that section, and was pretty much starting from scratch (only thing I really remember was some nomenclature and 'back side attack').

Just going through Chad's videos and taking meticulous notes and then recopying those notes into a nice notebook has helped me learn organic the right way. I've been going through the DAT Destroyer and while it's hard at times I can see myself improving a great deal. Many will tell you that you should take organic before taking the DAT but it is totally doable to teach yourself. I recommend Chad's videos and the DAT Destroyer. He makes learning organic fun, and I found myself wanting to learn it. Make sure you stay motivated, take great notes and do lots of practice problems and you should do just fine.

Chad's DAT-specific videos were exceptional practice for the DAT. However, I can't imagine going through them without any baseline knowledge... They are more of a "quick and dirty" review of precisely what you will need to know for the DAT. He assumes you will have at least somewhat of a background in orgo, IMO.

What I would do, instead, is download Chad's videos for the college orgo class. I haven't used them personally, but I have full faith in his abilities. After going through those, I would buy the DAT specific videos as well.

Many people have attested to "Organic Chemistry as a Second Language" being a great study resource as well. It wouldn't hurt to try those out, too.

Awesome, thanks guys. Glimmer, are you reffering to actual orgo classes that chad has available? if so that would be amazing!
