Hi everyone,

I've been reading some DAT breakdowns all over the forum & I THINK I've narrowed down the optimal study materials for someone with a decent handle on math (AP Calc, Calc 2 in college), a science major (took bio, ochem, gchem courses in undergrad), & low financial resources...

I can't imagine needing too much review for math or sciences besides a refresher/guide for subjects that are going to be on the DAT and a bunch of practice problems. Right?
I figure...

Bio, Ochem, Gchem - Start w Cliff's AP Bio, Destroyer ($150)
Quantitative Reasoning - Destroyer
Perceptual Ability - Look over youtube vids for tips. Crack DAT PAT - Ace version ($129)
Reading Comp - Destroyer?? Haven't found much consensus on this one

Total spent ($279) - still hefty but it seems worth it to invest more on solid study materials

Am I missing anything substantial??

Also, I have old Kaplan materials from a friend...Any thoughts on using the Kaplan materials to kick off my studying??

Cliffs AP bio is available for free online (3rd edition) so you could save some money there. Dat and Math destroyer are great for the sciences definitely recommend those. I would suggest Datbootcamp they provide 5 tests for each science section as well as RC which is very good practice in my opinion and its only 117 i believe. I read the Kaplan blue book but did not feel it was beneficial but you may find some use if you look through it. Hope this helps!

Thank you brofessor91! My little brother is actually in AP bio and has the Cliff's notes 🙂 That's so good to know there's a free online version though - will be good for traveling. Thanks for the tip!
I'm a little nervous about purchasing DAT Boot Camp due to some negative experiences here on the forum...But it does sound good to have extra RC practice--

Thanks!!

Np. When you purchase bootcamp everything is inclusive so you get access to all the practice tests. They even have 10 Pat tests so you could use it for practice without having to purchase CDP saving you the cost of that. The tests are much harder but have better explanations than CDP if you decide to go that route. As for RC bootcamp was a very good presentation of the difficulty level of the passages on the DAT but on the real test there are many more questions where you can simply read the question and look for the answer in the passage. I wouldn't worry too much about RC it wasn't that bad, just with the time restraint it can get difficult.

I would use Cliff's AP bio (free), Ferralis bio notes (free) then spring for an older version of Destroyer (you can find people selling them on this forum) and bootcamp ($129). Skip CDP, bootcamp is harder and more comprehensive.

What you have is great. Also you can get Cliffs and Feralis free, but try to get a new version of the Destroyer, it can really save you.
