I take the test next Thursday, so I have a week left. I took NBME 2 today and only scored a 211, which I am definitely disappointed with, and I am currently averaging about 64% on QBank w/ 700 or so questions left. My goal for this thing is to at least break 220 and would be completely satisfied to break 230. So what is the best strategy with 1 week left to accomplish this (or is it even possible)?

My thoughts were first of all, only stick to FA and QBank, unless I just feel really deficient in one area, then I might go back and re-read that part in BRS. So I figured tommorrow through Sunday, I'd do 3-4 sets of random QBank in the morning. I'd follow this with a review of FA pharm and certain aspects of biochem and micro (I feel that these three are my weakest) every afternoon. Then, I'll review any other subjects that I don't do so well on on QBank that day. Finish up each day before I go to sleep by doing some rapid review/images from FA.

On Monday, take NBME 3 in the morning, review accordingly that evening. Tuesday, QBank in the morning, review deficiencies in the afternoon. Wednesday (day before test), make one more quick pass through pharm and certain parts of bio/micro, review some small stuff like embryo, biostats, behavioral, etc.

Thoughts?? Sound like a good plan?? Anything I need to do different?? Is is possible for me to break 220 or even 230??? Thanks in advance.....

Listen to Dr G lectures in spare time to help intergrate info before the test. It helps most people because it give good problem solving skills and has a good review of practical Pathlogy. Unless you are a knock um dead path wizard - I would do it.

I am in crunch time too. 64% on Qbank is pretty good and I am sure you will beat 220...I am going to read 1st Aid until I wan't to puke and then do it again if possible. Enough info is in there to crack 230.

I would hesitate in listening to Goljan lectures with only 1 week left. Maybe just his CV lectures or something if you need work in a particular area.

FA and lots of questions has worked for many people before us and should work for us.

Good Luck

I have a week left too and my plan is to devote the next two days to my weakness (biochem, histo, cell, blah blah) then go through one more round of first aid, doing short sets of Qbank questions on tutorial mode (I think I learn better that way) of the questions I got wrong the first time around and all the "flagged items" that I was so good about doing last month.

As for the NBMEs, there was an improvement of 15 points (when you calc it) for me from one test to another with one day in between - so I'm not 100% sure about their accuracy (or should I say preciseness, lol) sooooo - hopefully things may change on your next test... I think it's just important to have a plan and stick to it, which you're doing 🙂

Good luck to all those whose date is creeping up on them!

Got exactly one week left as well, less if you count my day off on Tuesday. I plan to finish Qbank by this friday. Then to take the 150 released items and practice USMLE from Kaplan this weekend. Next Monday I'll probably give my week areas one more quick run through.

I have 9 days til D-day. 12 days til D-day #2.
My plan is:

FA and Step Up as many times as I can handle
go through my incorrect qbank (did all questions already)
pharm cards
CMMRS

and the weekend before COMLEX: OMM, anatomy, rinse and repeat...

and hope for the best...

4 days left for me, and I'm quickly running out of steam.

I'm just trying to keep FA with me at all times and do Qbank questions that I missed the first time through. Saturday or Sunday I plan on doing the 150 released questions and kind of taking it easy.

I think I'll pass on NBME as I've heard from several people that it has not been a good predictor for them.

Good luck to everyone else 🙂

good luck peter! yeah i didn't do any of the nbme.

the 150 released aren't bad at all...let us know how you do!
