Hey SDN, I have been studying for the DAT for the last two months and I am just now feeling familiar with all the material. However, I don't feel ready nor do I feel as if I fully know anything well!! I mainly just understand alot of the major concepts. I have 2 weeks left before my exam and I am wondering if people who have scored a 21+ AA, would bestow some wisdom as to whether it is wiser to review one subject for several days in depth (that way I can focus soley on that material), or whether I should try and balance several subjects a day reviewing high points and taking practice exams?

I am feeling really torn as to whether to do in depth studying to review with a few practice tests, or whether to work mainly on practice tests and see what I don't know and then review those things as I come across them. I currently have attempted some practice tests and I am only getting about 60% overall of the questions correct. I know practice tests are good, but I have always been a big believer in tring to understand and know everything before testing and applying your knowledge. Am I wrong should I place more focus and attention on practice tests and seeing what I am doing wrong and then study those things I got wrong as I go, or should I spend about 80% of my time doing in depth subject reviews and 20% practice tests? Thanks for any feedback!!

By the way I really need to score a 21+ due to me being an untraditional student w/ 3.2 cum gpa and 3.58 science gpa.

If you're doing bad on tests, study more. While I used a balanced approach, you should study in whatever way you learn best.

I was in the same boat as you. I would say focus more on reviewing everything. To me, if you understand everything, you should be able to apply your knowledge. I would do only one practice set a day and review for the rest of the day. However if you could only asnwer 60% right in those tests, then you havent learned or retained much. Keep on reviewing for the materials to stick.
